CPD and events

Incoming schools will join a strong and growing family with the relevant support structures designed to meet their initial and ongoing needs.  We run a range of shared CPD, training and networking events for school leaders, teachers, business managers and governors. Events and details can be found on the Events calendar or on our Eventbrite page.
 
ODBST's Regular CPD opportunities are outlined below. 

Events for Leaders

Regular Headteacher briefings and conferences for Headteachers, often with external speakers in attendance. The conferences are run jointly with ODST, creating a valuable group of school leaders to meet, gain updates, and discuss key issues with.

Aspirant leader Network

An ideal opportunity for those aspiring to senior leadership in schools to develop their knowledge and explore the types of topics and scenarios senior leaders face daily.

School Business Managers network 

Termly meeting for ODBST business managers, to meet with and get updates from the central team, network and share information with peers across the trust

Events for Curriculum

Early Years Network 

An ideal opportunity for leaders of early years provision to come together to receive updates in relation to the EYFS local and national policy and share effective practice.

SENDCo Network

Support for SENDCos to enable the sharing of already strong practice in schools. The sessions will be externally led and we strongly encourage schools to join in and support this group.

Maths Leader Network 

A CPD Network with Nathan Crook offering quick but effective CPD, the workshops include live discussion, questions and answers, as well as access to the resources.

English Leader Network

Led by an external consultant with regular meetings help leaders understand more about how to support English.

Science leader network

An opportunity for Science leads to come together with other leaders to develop their curriculum knowledge and engage in colleague-led workshops and discussions.

Art Leader Network

Working to fulfil the focus on curriculum these sessions encourage Art Leaders to set out their INTENT, IMPLEMENTATION and assess the IMPACT of their subject.

History Leader Network

Working to fulfil the focus on curriculum these sessions encourage History leaders to set out their INTENT, IMPLEMENTATION and assess the IMPACT of their subject.

Geography Leader Network

Working to fulfil the focus on curriculum these sessions encourage Geography Leaders to set out their INTENT, IMPLEMENTATION and assess the IMPACT of their subject.

PSHE Leader Network

Working to fulfil the focus on curriculum these sessions encourage PSHE Leaders to set out their INTENT, IMPLEMENTATION and assess the IMPACT of their subject.

IT Leader Network

Opportunities for IT Leaders within our schools to access high quality and informed support to ensure the curriculum and teaching remains of the highest standard.

Target Tracker Champions Network

Termly opportunities for Target Tracker Champions to gain the latest updates from a Target Tracker trainer, access support and ask questions.

Events for Teaching

Subject Learning Communities: English and Mathematics

Local twilight CPD sessions designed to support teachers’ knowledge and skills. Hosted by ODBST schools but led by an external trainer, each session usually focuses on specific aspects of teaching English or Mathematics. All KS2 teachers and teaching assistants are welcome. Events for Governors

Termly governance briefings 

ODBST Governance briefings are a chance for the Trust’s senior leadership team to liaise with school Headteachers, Governors and Clerks, keeping an open dialogue between all parties.

Governor Training

Regular and various opportunities to access training in the key skills for governance and support for Governors and Local Governing Bodies in their work. More details of our Governance support can be found on our Governance pages.

Other Events and Training

We also run additional training on a wide range of topics as and when the need arises. For example, in 2020/21 a number of new network meetings have been scheduled including Science and an Aspirant Leaders programme, in addition to these, with the release of the new OFSTED Handbook, a number of training events have been run across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes to help schools remain up to date with the latest expectations.
